PROCLAMATION NO. 1031

DECLARING AUGUST 2015 AS NATIONAL CENSUS MONTH

WHEREAS, Republic Act (RA) No. 10625, otherwise known as the “Philippine Statistical Act of 2013,” which was passed on 12 September 2013, states that the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) shall prepare and conduct periodic censuses on population, housing, agriculture, fisheries, business, industry, and other sectors of the economy;

WHEREAS, the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015), which is scheduled to be conducted in August 2015 with August 1 as reference date, is designed to take an inventory of the entire population in the Philippines; and

WHEREAS, the thrust of the National Government to decentralize functions to Local Government Units (LGUs) requires an up-to-date and comprehensive data on the population at the local level.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BENIGNO S. AQUINO III, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the month of August 2015 as National Census Month.

All departments, other government agencies, including government-owned or -controlled corporations, as well as LGUs, are hereby enjoined to implement and execute the operational plans, directives, and orders of the PSA Board through the PSA, relative to this Proclamation. The citizenry is likewise called upon to support and cooperate in the POPCEN 2015 by providing complete and correct information to census enumerators.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed hereto.
