The Department of Energy together with the Western and Eastern Visayas Regional Development Councils conducted the Visayas Power Summit last April 2, at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu. Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla led the event and presented the Luzon and Visayas Power Outlook as well as the mechanisms of the Feed-in-Tariff (FIT). The event was concluded with a covenant signing among Summit participants, led by Cebu Mayor Michael Rama, for the collaborative efforts in ensuring a sustainable energy supply in the regions. More than 200 participants from various sectors attended the said Power Summit.

Natural Gas Quality Forum. DOE Secretary Carlos Jericho L. Petilla addressed the guests and participants of the Natural Gas Quality Forum held on January 30, 2013 at the Fairmont Hotel, Makati City. He emphasized the significant role of natural gas in ensuring energy security and promoting a low-carbon future in response to global calls to mitigate environmental risks in terms of putting up energy facilities and infrastructure.

DOE Secretary Carlos Jericho L. Petilla spoke before the delegates of the first International Electricity Research Exchange-Technological Issues and Solutions (IERE -TIS) Asia Meeting held on January 16, 2013 at Fairmont Hotel. The event hosted by MERALCO served as a venue to exchange information on government policies, projects, and programs related to power, renewable energy, alternative fuels and private initiatives on smart grid applications.
