Monsada led the flag off during the Asia leg of the annual Shell Eco-Marathon (SEM) on 04 March 2016 at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila. The SEM promotes the skills and talents of young engineers through designing, building and driving energy-efficient vehicles, participated in by various Philippine college institutions, including Ateneo De Davao, National University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, The University of Mindanao, University of the East, University of San Carlos, University of Sto. Secretary Zenaida Y. Monsada attended and shared the DOE efforts in terms of the forum, "The Necessary Alternatives: Balancing Energy, Health and the Climate Challenge" spearheaded by Senator Loren Legarda. The Forum tackled how the country's energy sector policies will contribute in the Philippines' efforts and commitments in addressing climate change.
