ENERGY STATISTICS

"Energy plays a very vital role in nation-building" was Secretary Raphael P. M. Lotilla's pronouncement in his message during the Opening Ceremonies of the 17th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration in October 2006. The event which was hosted by the entire Energy Family (DOE, NEA, NPC, PNOC, PSALM, TRANSCO) had the theme "Empowering Consumers Through Responsive Energy Statistics" ("Pagbibigay-Kapangyarihan sa mga Konsumer sa Tulong ng Makabuluhang Estadistikang Pang-Enerhiya"). This reflects the objective of the entire Energy Family of working with the Filipino consumer for the attainment of continuous, adequate, economic and sustainable supply of energy.

The entire Energy Family reaffirms its commitment to the collection and presentation of timely, complete, and quality energy data for consumer empowerment. For its part, the DOE remains steadfast in making full use of energy data and statistics for more effective and transparent energy planning and policy formulation.

In view of this, we are publishing energy statistics as among the highlights introduced in the improved DOE website.

Detailed, complete, timely and reliable statistics are essential to monitor energy situation in both the national and international level. Statistics on energy supply, export trade, stocks, transformation and consumption are important bases for sound energy planning, management and implementation of energy activities in the country
