| The
solar PV subcomponent of the World Bank/GEF-financed
Rural Power Project (RPP) involves the commercial dissemination
PV systems suitable for single homes or establishments,
or for institutional and community applications. DOE
will select qualified private companies to participate
in the Subcomponent including provision of TA and market
development support. GEF grants and Government subsidies
will be used to catalyze the creation of a market for
this RET and to lower cost to consumers, respectively.
The level of grants and subsidies described in the present
guidelines apply only to the first four years or phase
one of the RPP.
