CarLess
Day Program :
Don't be Careless,
Go Carless! |
When are
we Careless? It is when we are not conscious of the environmental
impact we create while using our cars. However, we leave a
smaller ecological footprint if we share our cars with others
on our way to work and vice versa!
What
is the Carless Day Program?
This a
fuel conservation measure that encourages commuters to burn
calories instead of fossil fuel, reduce traffic congestion
and air pollution, and leave the car at home one day a week.
The motorist will avail instead of the public transport (taxis,
buses, LRT/MRT) or may rideshare during their carless day.

PARK
AND WAIT (Anti-Idling) :
Idling is a bad habit |
What
is Park and Wait Program?
This program
encourages motorists to commit to turn off their engines when
stopped for more than 10 seconds. This also calls for the
reduction in warming engines to 30 seconds and to turn off
engines when parked or when gassing up.
How
do we benefit from the Program?
Park and
wait with engine off saves fuel and reduces emission of harmful
gases to the air. It also minimizes engine wear.
Implementation
Steps:
1. Register
on-line with the Department of Energy.
2. Access downloadable promotional materials from the DOE
Webpage.
3. Use these materials to promote and implement the program
in your organization.
4. Touch base with other program participants.

Park
and Pick Program :
We'll Queue You! |
Park and
Pick Program encourages vehicles, particularly taxis, to park
only at designated places or sites. They shall not be allowed
to just roam around commercial complex and mall areas to pick
up passengers. Passengers on the other hand, should proceed
only to designated places for their taxi ride.
How
do we benefit from the Park and Pick Program?
This program
promotes discipline among taxi drivers and passengers. It
also provides an effective mechanism to identify the routes
and areas solely intended for specific types of vehicle.
Implementation
Steps
1. Mall
and commercial complex owners/administrators to enter into
a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Energy
to implement and put into practice the Park & Pick Program.
2. Mall
and commercial complex owners/administrators to regularly
touch base with the DOE (via the EC Webpage) for updates.

Park
and Fly Program :
Aim High for Fuel Conservation
|
Park
and Fly Program
For domestic
flight passengers with vehicles on a day or overnight trip,
facilities are available at the airport where they can park
and fly to and from their destination, and drive back home
with their cars.
How do we benefit from the Park and Fly Program?
This helps
control the influx of individuals accompanying the passengers
to the airport terminal hence, lessens traffic congestion
at the airport. The Filipino culture of "long" goodbyes
and "salubongs" are done in a separate area to accord
the passenger immediate access to the airport terminal.
Implementation Steps
1. Register
on-line with the Department of Energy.
2. Secure a sticker or pin from DOE . Post the sticker on
the vehicle or wear a pin to show support to the Park and
Fly Program.
3. Touch base with other participants.
4. Coordinate with DOE regularly for monitoring purposes and
program updates.

Park
and Walk Program :
I Walk An Extra Distance for Energy Conservation |
Walking
instead of riding is another option to save on fuel and let
the vehicle owner realize that walking a distance is a more
healthful option that will result to less vehicle emission;
promotion of a healthy disposition for the body; and for a
healthy Mother Earth. A short distance walk is a better alternative
than a heavy consumption of fuel for a short trip.
What
is the Park and Walk Program
This program
will start from Ayala Center, encouraging vehicle owners to
park their vehicles in available parking spaces. While roaming
around the commercial complex, instead of riding in their
vehicles, owners are encouraged to walk an extra distance
through bridgeways and walkpaths. Riding a certain distance
within the vicinity of the commercial complex is a big NO!
Not only does it create traffic congestion - it even consumes
extra fuel and emits smoke.
Implementation Steps
1. Register
on-line with the Department of Energy as a vehicle owner participant
to the Park and Walk program.
2. Secure pin from DOE. Wear it as a sign of your support
to the program.
3. Touch base with other program participants.
4. Coordinate regularly with DOE for monitoring and program
updates.
