Mindanao Energy Forum. The Department of Energy has successfully conducted the Mindanao Energy Forum at the Waterfront Insular Hotel in Davao City last November 08, 2011. This is part of DOE’s continuing initiative to reach out to different energy stakeholders to address their concerns and issues in the Downstream Oil, Renewable Energy, Power/Electrification, Efficiency and Alternative Fuels, and Petroleum and Coal Exploration. This Forum has gathered more than two hundred participants from different energy stakeholders comprising the academe, local government units, electric cooperatives, financial institutions, non-government organizations, project developers and allied business development groups, media, other public and private organizations. Energy Secretary Jose Rene D. Almendras provided a comprehensive presentation on the Philippine Energy Sector which includes the plans and programs of the Department, the energy situationer particularly in the Mindanao region, the investment opportunities in the sector, as well as the current challenges facing the entire energy sector.
