We at the Department of Energy (DOE) have committed to pursue national development through the two-fold agenda of attaining energy independence and implementing power market reforms, which we have affirmed in our Philippine Energy Plan 2005-2014 (2005 PEP).
 
Energy Sector Accomplisment Report
In support of the development program of the Arroyo Administration, a reform package plan was formulated to include the implementation of an energy sector agenda based on energy independence and power market reforms.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Energy Secretary Angelo T. Reyes (center) lead heads of local government units in the National Capital Region and sectoral representatives from the business community, academe, youth, Church, transport, NGOs, international donor community and civil society groups in the launch of the Switch Movement, a social mobilization campaign that aims to accelerate the adoption of best energy practices in order to address energy security and climate change. Shown here is one key strategy of the movement - the switch from incandescent bulbs to the more energy-efficient compact fluorescent lamps that will generate energy savings for consumers, defer installation of additional power generation capacity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

DOE-DOJ TF Given More Teeth Against Violators of the Oil Deregulation Law
The Department of Energy – Department of Justice Task Force (DOE-DOJ TF), mandated to investigate and act upon violations of the 1998 Oil Deregulation Law, has amended the Memorandum of Agreement and its Rules of Procedure to enable it to carry out its duties effectively.  more >>

Energy Secretary Angelo T. Reyes welcomed the decision of Negros Occidental local authorities to endorse the expansion of the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) inside the Mt. Kanlaon National Park (MKNP) Buffer Zone to harness more geothermal power.  more >>
