    Don Emilio Abello Energy Efficiency Awards


    All companies that have submitted energy consumption reports are evaluated to determine the recipient of the Don Emilio Abello Energy Efficiency Awards. The awards are given to outstanding companies and energy managers who have undertaken or are responsible in implementing energy efficiency and conservation programs to achieve substantial savings in their energy consumption.


    ASEAN Best Practices Award in Building

    An ASEAN-wide Best Practices awards competition was launched last March 2000 under the program area on energy efficiency and conservation ASEAN Plan of Action. Objectively, this is a recognition program aimed to provide international prominence and recognition to buildings and entities. That is, they voluntarily apply concepts, systems and technologies of EE&C to become models among the ASEAN region to replicate and promote energy management practices and programs.

    Competition Categories

    New and Existing Building Category
    This category is for qualified buildings which has operated for at least 1 year but not more than 5 years.
    Retrofitted Building Category
    This category refers to qualified buildings that has operated for more than 5 years and already introduced major changes and improvements which led to energy efficiency improvement resulting to 20% total energy savings.
    Tropical Building
    This category defines a building which was passively designed wherein only 50% or less of its gross floor area is air-conditioned. The building gross floor area must be more than 500 m2. This excludes religious buildings. Age of building must not be more than 15 years old.
    Special Submission
    This category refers to special projects which study, apply and/or develop innovative technologies which could be applied to reduce energy consumption in buildings. The aim is to promote the development of innovative energy efficiency related solutions together with ASEAN wisdom.
