Power Patrol Program
In the wake of the power crisis in 1993, executive Order No. 123
was signed on 8 September 1993, Institutionalizing the Committee
on Power Conservation and Demand Management and launched the
information campaign dubbed as Power Patrol nationwide
in January 1994.
The Power Patrol Program, a campaign on power or electricity conservation,
is the main advocacy vehicle for the household, academe, commercial
and industrial sectors.
Fuel Conservation and Efficiency in Road Transport (Road Transport
Patrol)
Fuel Economy Run
The fuel economy run is a program that puts premium on vehicle
maintenance and driver capabilities to obtain data on fuel economy
rating in a safe and normal driving condition that employs energy
efficiency measures and driving techniques which will take place
on national roads and/or main thoroughfares.

Road Transport Patrol
The campaign known as Road Transport Patrol was formally
launched in April 1998 through Executive Order No. 472
Institutionalizing the Committee on Fuel conservation and Efficiency
in Road Transport signed on 25 March 1998. It aims to disseminate
information on efficiency utilization of fuel through the local
chapters created for the purpose.
The program targets a 10% reduction in fuel consumption. The
activities focus on the campaign that provide consumers with information
on the efficient use of fuel through proper vehicle maintenance,
efficient driving and values formation among drivers through seminar/workshops,
and the use of the tri-media. Target audiences include transport
association, private vehicle and fleet owner, bus operators, taxi
operator, jeepney operators and drivers.

Palit Ilaw Program
Palit Ilaw is a program of the government under the banner of
National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program (NEECP) of
the Department of Energy (DOE), to encourage the consumer to change
their incandescent bulb with high energy efficient compact fluorescent
lamp (CFL). The program is supported by the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF).
The program aims to eliminate the use of incandescent bulb, a
very old lighting technology in which 80% of the energy used is
turned into heat and only 20% is converted to light.
The compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) is called an energy
saver lamp and can last up to 6000 10,000 hours compared
to 750 to 1000 hours for standard incandescent lamp.
Promotion of Energy Efficiency Lighting Market Transformation
Project (PELMATP)
The Philippine Efficient Lighting Market Transformation Project
(PELMATP) is a five-year project led by the Department of Energy
(DOE) with support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF)
and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The Project aims to address the barriers on the widespread utilization
of energy efficient lighting (EEL) system in the Philippines and
the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to the environment.
